TopNotes Music School uses a system of learning that follows 3 patterns.
These 3 concepts help decide in which direction the student has more interest and therefore, more joy.
It also helps our teachers identify where to put more attention.
Learning how to read music is very important to us. There is a lot to learn starting from the basics.
Learning classic songs that the student can relate too helps understand the connection of what is on the sheet and what is being played.
It's important to keep in mind that a lot of what we learn in these early stages will stay forever. Many professionals mention the importance of learning theory when it comes to composition, play in a band and rehearsals.
Learning the blues is a way of combining rhythm, harmony and improvisation.
Most of our contemporary music originally comes from blues, like rock n roll, Jazz and all the way to pop.
It gives students the chance of feeling the music from a more spiritual perspective and it's also a way of teaching young students the importance of improvising.
This is one of the points we emphasise the most. Jamming with other people involves everything.
Harmony, rhythm, listening to the others, communication … and the great objective is to find the GROOVE.
By the end of the course the students should know exactly what grooving means. Many professional musicians and producers will tell you… if it's groovy, it's good :)
