Here at TopNotes we are more than a music school, and offer a wide range of programs including musical interventions from a diverse staff of music therapists. These offerings are as diverse as the faculty of therapists who make up the TopNotes Music Therapy team, and are designed to work with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
According to the Deutsche Musiktherapeutische Gesellschaft (German Music Therapy Association) music therapy is defined as the following:
“Music therapy is the targeted use of music within the therapeutic relationship to restore, maintain and promote mental, physical and spiritual health. Music therapy is a practice-oriented scientific discipline that interacts closely with various scientific fields, especially medicine, social sciences, psychology, musicology, and education. The term ‘music therapy’ is a summary designation for different music-therapeutic conceptions, which are to be characterized by their nature as psychotherapeutic, in distinction to pharmacological and physical therapy. Music-therapeutic methods follow equally depth-psychological,behavior-therapeutic learning theoretical, systemic, anthroposophical and holistic-humanistic approaches.”
Our goal is to bring music therapy programs and services to institutions in Heidelberg and throughout Germany. Our team consists of 5 qualified music therapists who will enrich the lives of the people you serve at your institution.
We are all about making sure that music therapy is a great fit for the needs at your institution. The first step is always to have a conversation with you to offer you the best possible program.
Our conversation with you, knowledge about your institution and the population you serve, and scientific literature from music therapy inform our process to create the best possible program for your institution.
After submitting the initial proposal to you, we have another conversation to make sure that we are in agreement about all the details of our possible partnership. Once everybody is happy we finalize the agreement.
With an agreement in place we move forward with one of our highly-qualified music therapists. Depending on your institution, we assist in the onboarding process.
Music therapy can offer people in the late stages of their lives an opportunity to reconnect to themselves, their loved one, and others. Music therapy in geriatric facilities is well-established worldwide.
Music therapy in psychological and psychiatric care can bring additional benefits to patients beyond traditional psychotherapy.
Music therapy can help individuals whose development might have been hindered. As a motivator, music can do wonders in physical and mental development.
Music therapy can offer children, adolescents, and adults a chance to work through trauma and mental stress.
Music is understood by everybody, no matter their background. Music therapy can give refugees an opportunity to foster integration, heal from trauma, and more.
Music therapy can offer the military and their families opportunities for healing and processing of their experiences.
